Week 6: (May 18- 22)
We are switching gears just a bit here and talking about pollinators this week. There are many different ways in which fruits and vegetables are pollinated, however a vast majority of pollination is done by honeybees. Honey bees have to be strong to endure a Minnesota winter, and the sight of dandelions outside is a sign that the bees have it through and are ready for another honey producing summer season.
Learn a little about honeybees in this week's lesson. This week: 1. Watch the video --> 2. Answer this question on our google classroom page: "Have you ever been stung by a bee? What do you remember about it." 3. By Friday, do 1 of the following 2 things... a. Take a picture of 3 different pollinators outside and upload it to our classroom page b. Complete this google form --> POLLINATORS |
|
Week 7: (May 26-29)Topic - Help the Pollinators!
This quarter we have watched changes from winter to spring - we have done some home experiments - and now we are going to make something to help our Minnesota pollinators. This week: 1. Watch the video --> 2. Answer this question on our google classroom page: "What is one thing you have made with your own hands that you are proud of?" 3. Make something to help pollinators (You will turn it in via photo next Monday or Tuesday) Choose one of the following: (plans are at the right -->) - A birdhouse or bird feeder - A bat house -A Bee house (for solitary mason bees) - A Butterfly house |
